First Blog!
So this first blog of mine was inspired by Dan Brown. The YouTuber. Not the author. He's pretty awesome. Go check him out. http://www.youtube.com/user/pogobat. A recent video of his was about what would happen if technology disappeared for 24 hours. It was pretty interesting. He made points about how society would crumble because everyone, whether or not they know it, relies on technology. There wouldn't be any medical tech, no 911, no internet, etc, etc, etc. You get the picture. But the main point he made was that there would be a lack of communication. And he's right. I mean nowadays, who doesn't use a cell phone, or Skype (or other program similar to it), or even a normal landline phone to talk and communicate with other people? Take a moment a close your eyes and think about the world, even your own house without technology. Done? Well, I'm sure your mental picture was quite intriguing. So with all the main forms of communication gone, Dan Brown mentions that mob mentality would take over. And with mob mentality taking over, and no law enforcement (well, there would be some, but they wouldn't have any technology, so it wouldn't make a difference anyway.), chaos breaks out. It's pretty inevitable. So here is my point. People are always saying that technology is moving too fast and "Oh, when I was a kid, we didn't have all this fancy pants technology. We had to walk to school. Uphill. Both ways. And blah blah blah..." And there are also people saying that technology is going to take over someday. But with the point that Dan Brown makes, technology is humanity's sense of... well... humaneness. And it's a crutch that we all depend on. So it's a Catch 22. Without it, humanity crumbles. With it, according to many people, it will eventually take over. So this leads us to the question, "How long do you think it will be before we start seeing these major changes?" I don't think it will be in my lifetime, or even my kids' lifetimes. But who knows? Maybe it's going to happen next year. Maybe this is completely wrong. What do I know? But it doesn't matter. So what do you all think?
